Volts slump to fourth straight defeat

The Otago Volts slumped to their fourth straight defeat in this years HRV Twenty20 Cup after a crushing 7 wicket defeat against the Central Stags at Queens Park in Invercargill.

Having been put into bat by the visitors the Volts reached 175-6 thanks to a 6th wicket partnership of 79 from Neil Broom (38) and Derek de Boorder (38) after the home side had slumped to just 96-6.

The pair smashed 6 fours and 5 sixes to help the Volts set the Stags an imposing run chase of 176 to register their 2nd victory of the tournament.

Despite such a high total the Stags secured victory with ease thanks to an impressive half century from Kieran Noema-Barnett who scored 57 from just 18 balls which included 3 fours and 7 sixes.

George Worker (43) and Peter Ingram (28) got the Stags off to the perfect start before Noema-Barnett’s fireworks secured victory with 15 balls to spare.
