Aaron Moores | cricket20

The Northern Knights hopes of securing a place in the HRV Twenty20 final took a knock after they suffered a 43 run defeat against the Wellington Firebirds at Seddon Park in Hamilton.

Jessie Ryder (86) and Grant Elliott (34) lead the way as the Firebirds scored an imposing 202-6 after being put into bat by the Knights.

With such an imposing ruin chase the Knights got off to a poor start losing Daniel Flynn (12) from just the forth delivery of the innings despite the opener smashing two sixes.

Brad Wilson (49) and Herschelle Gibbs (50) shared a second wicket stand of 90 before the pair were both dismissed in the space of two overs.

With the partnership broken the Knights middle collapse to leave them 159 all out having lost their last 6 wickets in just 6 overs.
