The Defending HRV Twenty20 Cup champions, the Central Stags, sealed their place in this years final thanks to an 8 wicket victory over the Auckland Aces at Pukekura Park in New Plymouth.
In a rematch of today’s encounter the Stags will travel to Colin Maiden Park in Auckland to take on the Aces in a repeat of last years final, which the Stags won by 78 runs.
The winner will also qualify for the Twenty20 Champions League.
Faced with a run chase of 181 the Stags cruised to victory with 19 balls to spare thanks to a quick fire innings from Ian Blackwell who smashed 68 from just 33 deliveries. During his time at the crease the Englishman smashed 4 fours and 6 sixes.
With support coming from Colin Ingram (46) and Jamie How (43) the Stags easily chased down an imposing victory target to seal their place in the final.
The Aces meanwhile will look to bounce back on Sunday in the final after failing to defend a match winning total thanks to an impressive half century from Aussie Rob Quiney (55).
