The Wellington Wizards held their nerve to record a thrilling 3 wicket victory over the winless Otago Volts at the Queenstown Events Centre in Queenstown.
Faced with a run chase of 148 the Wizards sealed victory thanks to an 8th wicket stand of 14 between Marc Calkin (18) and Brett Lee (9) who guided the visitors across the finishing line.
After a poor start by the Wizards; which saw them fall to 17-2 Grant Elliott (29) and Luke Wright (28) lead the recovery before Calkinís and Leeís heroics.
In their final game of a disappointing season which had seen the Volts go winless Aaron Redmond (50) and Craig Cumming (25) looked set to snap that streak with an excellence partnership at the top of the order.
But, as the case as been through out this years HRV Twenty20 Cup group stages the Volts suffered a middle order collapse which saw them restricted to a total of just 147-8.
