For the past two summers the Warriors have reached the final of the lucrative Standard Bank Pro20 series - the most exciting competition on the South African domestic cricket calendar.
In 2004 they lost narrowly to the Eagles in East London but last year they were completely outplayed by the Titans in Centurion.
Their 2005-06 Pro20 campaign starts Friday night with a match against the Highveld Lions at the Wanderers in Johannesburg, followed by a game on Sunday against the Titans at Supersport Park in Centurion.
Test fast bowler Makhaya Ntini is available for Friday's match but will be rested on Sunday after a directive from the national selectors.
This is good news for the Warriors who have struggled to bowl out sides this season and Ntini's experience and clever bowling is sure to make an impact.
"Our bowlers have let us down so far," agreed Warriors coach Russell Domingo. "Ntini's availability is a big morale boost for the team as he always gives of his best and inspires the rest of the team."
Left arm fast bowler Brent Kops replaces Ntini for the Titans match.
Experienced opening batsman Mark Bruyns makes a welcome return for both matches and he and allrounder Justin Kreusch should get the Warriors off to a fast start to the innings.
In 20-overs matches there is very little time for batsmen to play themselves in and big hits are the order of the day. Both openers are past masters at this type of game.
Master blaster Tyron Henderson, 2005's Pro20 Player of the Year, with his big hitting and accurate bowling, is probably the Warriors' most valuable player and the Eastern Cape side will be looking to him to play his natural game.
