Takling to reporters after the Board's Working Committee meeting here today, BCCI Treasurer N Srinivasan said, "The commitee has decided against taking part in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in the Twenty20 format. The Board does not want to encourage this format of the game."
"During our discussions, all the members had the same feeling." BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah said the Board has received a letter from the International Cricket Council (ICC) askign them to clarify whether they would like to take part in the Comonwealth Games.
"We had a thorough discussion on the topic before we arrived at this decision. Twenty20 was introduced in England to combat the popularity of soccer but here we don't have the same scenario. And from whatever I gathered, I can say that other countries, including Pakistan, are also not very keen about Twenty20." Mr Shah said.
