Goodwin puts Sussex ahead of the ICL

The mass exodus from Indian Cricket League continues unabated with Zimbabwe batsman Murray Goodwin snapping his ICL ties and committing to English county Sussex.

Following in the footsteps of 79 Indian 'rebel' players who dumped ICL earlier this week to return to mainstream cricket, Goodwin too severed his ties with the unauthorised league.

"It's the right move to resign my ICL contract and I want to give Sussex every opportunity of progressing as far as we can in cricket," the cricketer said.

Counties with ICL-contracted players have been banned from playing in the Twenty20 Champions League should they qualify for it.

Goodwin, however, would not be allowed to play in the competition until 2010, the county said.
