Test leg spinner Stuart MacGill says the introduction of double headers should be the next stage in the development of international Twenty20 cricket matches.
Australia last night beat New Zealand by 44 runs in Auckland in the first Twenty20 game between two international sides.
MaGill said the format had many possibilities.
"I'd like to see perhaps double-headers, particularly on the international stage, because you'd get four international sides and you get a night's entertainment or an afternoon and night's entertainment," he said.
"If there's a bad game, which can happen in Twenty20, you've still got more cricket."
Meanwhile, MacGill said he was hopeful of being included in Australia's squad for the three-Test series in New Zealand.
Australia's one-day series starts in Wellington tomorrow.
The Test squad will be named in the next few weeks and MacGill said he would be a threat in New Zealand conditions.
"The last couple of Test series in New Zealand have been dominated by seam bowlers so having said that the New Zealanders aren't all that flash with the wrist spin bowling so I'm a chance - just maybe not in the first Test or so," he said.
