A sensational, record-breaking century from Loots 'The Hammer' Bosman led the Goodyear Eagles to a record score and a record victory against the Highveld Lions in their Standard Bank Pro-20 match at Sedgars Park in Potchefstroom on Sunday.
The Eagles made a daunting 225-6 in their 20 overs before bowling the hapless Lions out for a meagre 95 to win by a phenomenal 130 runs.
Bosman became the first man to score a century in the competiton's history when he reached three figures from just 43 balls during an innings that contained seven fours and no less than nine sixes.
Johan Beukes played a bewildered anchor-role during an opening stand of 151 and eventually reached a 'pedestrian' half century himself from before falling for 57 from 43 balls with seven fours. Bosman's innings ended two deliveries after reaching his century when Vaughan van Jaarsveld held a good catch of the bowling of Garnett Kruger. Bosman made 104 from 45 balls.
Skipper Morne van Wyk finished with an unbeaten 36 from 17 balls with a pair of fours and sixes but Bosman's innings was the talk of the town in Potch while the Lions quintet of Kruger, Werner Coetsee, Eugene Moleon, Adam Bacher and Martinus Otto were left licking their wounds after conceding over ten runs an over each.
Off spinner Thandi Tshabalala continued his remarkable record in a competition not normally noted for favouring the spinners with a scarcely believable return of 4-13 from his four overs after the early damage had been inflicted by Johan van \der Wath (2-11 in 2 overs) and Cliffie Deacon (2-16 in 3 overs).
