Andre Nel and Ethy Mbhalati proved to be the unlikely heroes as the Nashua Titans claimed a tense 1 wicket victory over the Highveld Lions at the Wanderers.
The two bowlers held their never to score the eight ruins needed to claim victory after the Titans middle order failed to fire once again.
Faced with a run chase of 170 the Titans got off to a good start thanks to Jacques Rudolph who scored a half century to get the visitors innings off to the perfect start.
Roelof van der Merwe added a valuable 23 runs during a 2nd wicket partnership of 36 but despite Rudolph’s resistant’s no other batmen could stay longer enough at the crease as the Titans run chase looked to have ended prematurely.
With wicket falling at regular intervals if was left to Nel (13) and Mbhalati (5) to lead the Titans to victory with eight runs from the final five deliveries to record a narrow victory.
Having batted first the Lions recorded a total of 169-5 with Alviro Petersen (54) and Zander de Bruyn (35) leading the way as the home side looked to make it two wins out of two.
