Udal named Middlesex Super Series captain

Thirty nine year old veteran off spinner Shaun Udal has been retained as Middlesex captain for the Stanford Super Series.

Udal who played four Tests and eleven One Day Internationals for England got the captaincy nod ahead of Ed Joyce, the Irish-bred middle order batsman.

England batsman Andrew Strauss (53 Tests, 78 ODIs), who is not part of the England Twenty20 team is also in the Middlesex squad which is missing batsman Owais Shah who will be on duties for the national side.

The key overseas duo of South African all rounder Tyrone Henderson and Murali Kartik, the Indian left arm spinner with eight Tests and 37 ODIs under his belt, have also been included in the squad which prevailed over Kent in the ECB Twenty20 Championship.

Neil Dexter, formerly of Kent and Neil Carter, formerly of Warwickshire are the new faces in the 15 man squad.

Middlesex's first match of the Stanford Super Series will be against England on October 26th. They depart England on October 19th.

Middlesex will take on reigning Stanford 20/20 Tournament champions Trinidad and Tobago on October 27th.
