Sri Lanka replace Murali with Perera
Sri Lanka have been given permission to call Dilruwan Perera into their World Twenty20 squad as a replacement for Muttiah Muralitharan. Muralitharan withdrew from the squad after sustaining a bicep injury playing for Lancashire against Kent in the LV County Championship. The International Cricket Council's technical committee approved Perera, a 25-year-old uncapped off-spinner, as a replacement after receiving medical reports confirming Muralitharan's injury. The World Twenty20 begins in South Africa on September 11 and runs for two weeks. Sri Lanka begin their campaign on September 14 when they face Kenya in Johannesburg. |
