New Zealand squad hit by virus

A virus has struck down two members of the New Zealand cricket team at the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa.

Mark Gillespie and Brendon McCullum are likely to sit out the warm up clash with Australia tonight due to illness. McCullum was placed on a drip to prevent dehydration last night after he suffered a bout of vomiting.

The illness is rekindling memories of the All Blacks' food poisoning incident in 1995 in South Africa, but manager of the cricketers Lindsay Crocker is denying any conspiracy.

Crocker says it is just a case of the players catching a virus which is prevalent in South Africa at the moment.
