Kirtley's unhappy England comeback

Eastbourne's James Kirtley made an unhappy return to international cricket as England crashed by eight wickets to Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup.

Kirley was hammered for 17 in his only over, including four boundaries, as Matthew Hayden and Adam Gilchrist shared in a whirlwind opening stand of 78 in Cape Town.

The Aussies raced past England's 135 for the loss of just two wickets.

Kirtley was unbeaten on two when England batted.

Despite the comprehensive defeat England moved into the Super Eights along with Austalia with Zimbabwe the team to go home.

Kirtley has been drafted into the team in place of Jimmy Anderson who had bowled poorly in the opening game against Zimbabwe

Who gets the bowling vote for the next round remains to be seen.

It was a question nobody had the answer to after today's hammering.
