Shoaib Malik struck a captain's knock to help Pakistan to 189-6 in the World Twenty20 Super Eight against Sri Lanka.

Malik (57) and Younus Khan (51) hit a 101-run fourth wicket partnership, while Shahid Afridi (17) and Misbah-ul-Haq (16) added useful runs.

Lasith Malinga (3-43) was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, but Sanath Jaysuriya conceded an 64 runs from his wicketless four overs.

Sri Lanka captain Mahela Jayawardene won the toss and opted to bowl first.
