Black Caps triumph in World Cup warm-up
New Zealand beat Bangladesh off the last ball of the game to mark the start of the World Twenty20 warm-up programme in England. Opener Martin Guptills 62 off 42 deliveries set up the Black Caps successful pursuit of 147 at Sir Paul Gettys Ground in Wormsley, the first warm-up encounter on these shores before the tournament gets under way next Friday. Peter McGlashan made a run-a-ball 35 before Neil McCullums unbeaten 15 carried New Zealand to a four-wicket win. Bangladeshs total of 146 for six was built around Mahmudullahs 43, which spanned just 41 deliveries, and Shakib Al Hasans 27-ball 35. Ian Butler was New Zealands most penetrative bowler with 2-32, while Daniel Vettoris four overs cost just 16 runs and yielded the wicket of Mushfiqur Rahim. |
