England falter after good start
England openers Ravi Bopara and Luke Wright got England off to a great start sharing an opening partnership of 102 before the hosts lost their way losing 5 wickets to end the innings 162/5.
Put into bat by the Netherlands captain Jeroen Smits Bopara and Wright slowly built the innings mixing boundaries with clever running between the wicket to keep the run rate moving along.
The pair had the better of the Dutch bowlers until Bopara fell for 46 giving ten Doeschate the first of his two wickets. With the loss of Bopara England seemed to lose their way a little with Owais Shah (5) and Eoin Morgan (6) both struggling to fill the role Bopara played suppporting Wright.
With the lose of three wickets for just 25 runs Wright looked to increase the pace at which England were scoring but his brilliant innings came to end for 71.
England captain Paul Collingwood could only manage 11 runs before chipping an easy catch to Edgar Schiferli.
It left Robert Key and James Foster to face the last over scoring 9 runs to give the Netherlands a target of 163 runs for victory.
