Gayle force Windies blow away Aussies

A typically aggressive 88 by West Indies skipper Chris Gayle helped his team thump Australia by seven wickets at the Brit Oval to leave the Aussies in danger.

A spirited show by the West Indies bowling attack prevented Australia from racing away with a huge total in their opening clash of the ICC World Twenty20.

A terrific first over blitz by Jerome Taylor saw off Shane Watson and skipper Ricky Ponting as Australia slumped early.

Meanwhile, Michael Clarke also perished to Fidel Edwards in a bid to accelerate the scoring.

Pollard then got rid of Haddin, just as he was looking to drop anchor for a blitzkrieg.

Australia wobbled a little against the West Indies in their opening clash but David Warner put in a strong resistance with a superb fifty. The Hussey brothers, Mark and David also joined the show with some lusty blows but could not do enough to take the Aussies to a great position of strength.
