Bangladesh ready for Ireland danger

Bangladesh take on Ireland in a crucial Group A match in the ICC World Twenty20 at Trent Bridge on Monday.

The Tigers went down to India by 25 runs on Saturday in the opening clash for both teams. However, the Mohammad Ashraful led team put up a good fight, first with the ball and then with the bat to make a life a little difficult for the defending World T20 champions.

Junaide Siddique was the star for the Bangla boys, whipping 41 off 22 balls at the top of the order and had put his team in a firm platform before left-arm spinnder Pragyan Ojha created havoc with a four wicket haul.

Naeem Islam also put up a brave resistance, scoring 28 runs off 17 deliveries at the tail-end but at the end of the day, MS Dhoni's brigade were too hot to handle.

Bangladesh, despite a smart show on Saturday can ill afford to take the Irish lightly. After all, it was Ireland, who paid put to Pakistan's hopes in the ICC Cricket World Cup in the West Indies back in 2007.

Skipper Ashraful has himself admitted that his team needed to brush up on a few aspects of their game against Ireland. A win on Monday would almost assure his team of a chance to make it to the Super Eight stage.

Ireland can be dangerous in cold England conditions with some good medium pace bowlers in the armoury. There is everything to play for both teams today.
