India set a target of 154 stay a float

India were left to chase down a modest victory target to keep their title defence alive after restricting England to 153 for seven in their do-or-die Super Eight match of the Twenty20 World Cup.

With lot at stake in the crucial Super Eight stage match between the defending champions and the hosts, England rode on cameos from Ravi Bopara (37), Kevin Pietersen (46) and Dimitri Mascarenhas (25 not out) to put a decent score on board at the Lord's.

This was after Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and felt the team would be better off chasing, rather than setting a target.

India went into the match benching Irfan Pathan and Pragyan Ojha for RP Singh and Ravindra Jadeja and RP took just four deliveries to live upto Dhoni's expectation.

Luke Wright (1) fluffed a pull and Yusuf Pathan took an well-judged skier at leg slip as India dealt the first blow in the battle of the desperate adversaries.
