Irish blow away Scots to reach Super Fours
Ireland kept on course for a place in this years Twenty20 World Cup after a 37 run victory over rivals Scotland at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to finish second in Group B.
Scotland made a brave fight of chasing their target of 137 for victory after the Irish had reduced the Scots to 12/5 but Kyle Coetzer's 43 gave his side hope of a surprise victory.
With Coetzer at the crease Scotland amazingly started to build a partnership that was capable of winning the game for the Scots.
With every run checked off by Coetzer and Gordon Drummond the Irish got more defensive as they saw the runs needs for victory decrease at an alarming rate.
With a Scotland victory starting to look possible Alex Cusack struck to remove Coetzer who was caught by William Porterfield after scoring a brave 43 to leave the Scots 74-6.
With Cusack gone the Scots last line of defense was breached and they suffered another collapse as they were bowled out for 99.
Earlier having won the toss the Irish elected to bat looking to set another big total to match the 202 they scored against the US yesterday during their 78 run victory.
Although nobody scored over 20 runs every player with the exception of Alex Cusack (2) reached double figures to set Scotland a total of 137 to chase.
