England hold on to record thrilling 11 run victory

England finished their preparations for the defence of their t20 World Cup crown with a thrilling 11 run victory over Pakistan in a low scoring match at the P Sara Oval in Colombo.

Having set Pakistan a victory target of 112, England restricted Mohammad Hafeezs side to a total of just 96-9 thanks to some impressive bowling from Jade Dernbach (3-14) and Danny Briggs (3-15).

Asad Shafig (20) offered some resistants but with wickets falling at regular intervals Pakistan were unable to chase down England total thanks in part to Luke Wright who smashed 38 runs to put England on top after a four wicket haul by Saeed Ajmal (4-14).
