Rampant Shakib strengthens Bangladeshi hopes

An explosive innings from Shakib Al Hasan helped increase Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the Super Eight after they set Pakistan a victory target of 176 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.

Shakib Al Hasan scored 84 runs from just 54 deliveries which included eleven boundaries and two sixes during a massive innings for Bangladesh as they posted a total of 175-6.

Having lost their opening match against New Zealand quite heavily, Bangladesh came into the game knowing only a large victory would secure them a place in the Super Eights.

With a target of 175-6 to defend, Bangladesh must beat Pakistan by 36 runs and thanks to Shakib Al Hasan’s fireworks their task was made easier against a miss firing Pakistan attack which looked out of sorts.
