Nasir Jamshed keeps Pakistan chances alive

A half century from Nasir Jamshed helped Pakistan record a total of 149-6 in their must win t20 World Cup Super Eights match at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.

Having lost the early wickets of Mohammad Hafeez (4) and Imran Nazir (14) looked in trouble before Nasir Jamshed (55) came to the crease and smashed four boundaries and two sixes before he was dismissed by Xavier Doherty (1-27).

Kamran Akmal (32) offered support during a vital 4th wicket partnership of 78 before Doherty made the break through for the Aussies in the 15 over to leave Pakistan 105-3.

The wicket keeper quickly followed as the Aussies took control once again to leave Pakistan with a total of 150 to defend in a game they must win to stand any chance of reaching the semi finals.

A victory for the Aussies will set up a semi final clash against the West Indies while Pakistan will be hoping for a South Africa victory against India if they see off Australia.

Should Pakistan win and qualify for the semis ahead of the Proteas and India they will meet Sri Lanka in the first semi final at the R Premadasa Stadium on Thursday evening.
