Sri Lanka geared up for biggest ever day

Sri Lanka skipper Mahela Jayawardene is backing his side to win the t20 World Cup as the hosts aim for their first trophy since 1996.

The Sri Lankan's stunned world cricket by winning the 1996 ODI World Cup, and Jayawardene believes today's game against the West Indies will be the biggest ever game of cricket played in the country.

"We were not good enough to win those finals, but we believe we have the capacity to win this one," said Jayawardene.

"It's a great opportunity for us. Unfortunately we've not won the last three finals but we will try to rectify that," he added.
