Rampaging Sixers maul weak Lions to seal title


The Sydney Sixers cruised to empathic 10 wicket victory over the bizhib Highveld lions to win the t20 Champions League title in comprehensive style at the Wanderers in Johannesburg.

The current Big Bash winners sealed victory with 45 balls to spare thanks to Michael Lumb who smashed 82 runs from just 57 balls including eight boundaries and five sixes.

The Englishman shared an opening stand of 124 with Brad Haddin (37) to seal victory after the Lions have been restricted toa total of just 121 after they have been put into bat by Haddin.

Josh Hazlewood (3-22) and Nathan McCullum (3-24) led the way for the Sxiers who reduced the South African;s to just 32-5 inside the opening seven overs.

A half century from Jean Symes (51) gave the Lions hope but with Lumb in devastating form a total of 121 was never going to stop the Sixers cruising to victory.
