The Chevrolet Warriors caused the first shock in this years t20 Champions League after they recorded a tense three wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.
With the pressure mounting, the Warriors overcome the lose of Johan Botha (42) in the final over to secure the victory thanks to Wayne Parnell who smashed six runs off the final two balls of the match to stun the home side.
Faced with a victory target of 173 the Warriors had looked on course for a simple victory thanks to an impressive innings from Ashwell Prince, who smashed 74 runs from just 55 deliveries.
With Prince back in the dugout Nicky Boje (7), dispatched the first ball he faced for a massive six over deep mid wicket off the bowling of Abhimanyu Mithun to leave the South African’s needing just seven runs of the final over.
Despite bowling two dot balls and picking up the wicket of Botha, Sreenath Aravind conceded seven runs off his final three deliveries to spark wild celebrations in the Warriors dug out.
It proved to be a disappointing night for the Royals Challengers who failed to defend a total of 172-8 after impressive performances from Virat Kohli (34), AB de Villiers (31) and Saurabh Tiwary (28).
