England laid down an early marker ahead of their t20 World Cup title defence in Sri Lanka next year thanks to an emphatic 10 wicket victory over a miss firing West Indies side at the Kia Oval in London.

Ravi Bopara (4-10) led the way, picking up four wickets to record the best ever t20 bowling figures by an Englishman as the Windies were bowled out for just 125 despite reaching 97-2 in the 14th over.

Faced with a victory target of 126, Craig Kieswetter (58) and Alex Hales (62) saw England home in a trouble free opening stand of 128 which helped the home side claim an easy victory in the 16th over.

Openers Johnson Charles (36) and Dwayne Smith (33) got the West Indies off to the perfect start with an opening stand of 51 but the World Champions fought their way back into the game thanks to Samit Patel (2-23).

The 26 year old all rounder struck in the 6th over to remove Smith before ending Charles international debut in the 14th over to spark the collapse which the West Indies lose eight wickets in the space of just 39 deliveries.
