The Chevrolet Warriors made it two wins out of two to start their t20 Champions League campaign on a positive note thanks to a comprehensive 50 run victory over the West End Redbacks.
Fresh from victory against the Royal Challengers Bangalore on Friday night; the Warriors proved to strong for the Australian Big Bash champions who were restricted to a total of 121-6.
The victory was set up by JJ Smuts who smashed 10 boundaries and two sixes on his way to a quick fire 88 which gave the Warriors a solid foundation of their way to a total of 171-5.
Mark Boucher (34) and Colin Ingram (30) played cameo roles to help last years beaten finalists start this years tournament in impressive style to lay down an early marker in their attempts to go once better then last year.
The Redbacks bowlers struggled throughout the innings with Shaun Tait in particular expansive, conceding 53 runs from his fours overs after he bowled Ashwell Prince (3) in the opening over.
Faced with an imposing total, the Redbacks slumped to just 35-3 thanks to some impressive bowling from Lonwabo Tsotsobe (2-30) and Rusty Theron (1-21) during the power play overs.
Mark Klinger (34) and Daniel Christian (26) offered the Redbacks hope with some resistant batting but the Warriors maintain their hold on the game to make it two wins out of two.
