Knight Riders cruise to nine wicket victory

Jacques Kallis and Gautam Gambhir both scored half centuries to help the Kolkata Knight Riders cruise to a nine wicket victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore to kick start their faulting t20 Champions League campaign.

Having lost their previous two group games, the Knight Riders easily chased down the Royal Challengers total of 169-9 with 15 balls to spare thanks to a second wicket stand of 109.

Kallis (64) lead the way, smashing four boundaries and a six while Gambhir finally returned to form, dispatching three boundaries and four sixes after the loss of Brad Haddin (42) in the 8th over.

It proved to be a disappointing match for the Royal Challengers who lost their second straight game, skipper Daniel Vettori lead the way top scoring with 44 after his side suffered a top order wobble.

Having been put into bat, the Royal Challengers slipped to 81-5 before Vettori fought back, smashing five boundaries and two sixes to give his side some hope.
