Australia got their tour of South Africa off to a bright start thanks to a five wicket victory over the Proteas at Newlands in Cape Town to go 1-0 up in their two game t20 International series.
The Aussies looked in impressive form as they chased down a victory target of just 147 thanks to a quick fire half century from Shane Watson (52) who smashed six boundaries and two sixes.
It proved to be the perfect reply after David Warner was run out from just the third delivery of the match without scoring after registering back to back centuries in his last two games in the t20 Champions League.
With Warner back in the dugout, Cameron White (28), Shaun Marsh (25) and David Hussey (25) enjoyed cameo performances to help Australia record victory with three balls to spare.
Having batted first, South Africa got off to a poor start, losing Graeme Smith (0) and Hashim Amla (4) inside the first three overs before Colin Ingram (33) and JP Duminy (67) shared a third wicket stand of 58.
Duminy led the way with a well deserved half century before debutant Pat Cummins (3-25) tore through the Proteas middle order to help restrict the hosts to a total of just 146-7.
