Shaun Marsh smashed 99 runs from just 52 deliveries to help the Perth Scorchers cruised to a eight wicket victory over the Melbourne Renegades at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.
Marsh smashed nine boundaries and five sixes to help the Scorchers chase down the Renegades victory target of 189 with four delivers to spare to register their first victory in this years KFC Big Bash League.
Faced with a tricky run chase, the visitors got off to a repaid start thanks to Marsh and Herschelle Gibbs who shared an opening stand of 95 before Gibbs (58) was dismissed by Andrew McDonald (1-21) in the 10th over.
Mitchell Marsh (18) quickly followed but Marsh remained at the crease to see the Scorchers home finishing the innings 99 not out after smashing Abdul Razzaq for a six to seal victory in the final over.
Having won the toss the Renegades took advantage against some poor bowling to put themselves into a match winning position having posted a score of 188-3.
McDonald lead the way with a well deserved half century with support coming from Aaron Finch (49) and Glenn Maxwell (22) to leave the Scorchers facing a tricky run chase.
