Brad Hodge and Andrew McDonald powered the Melbourne Renegades to their second straight victory thanks to a comprehensive eight wicket victory over the Sydney Sixers at the Docklands Stadium in Melbourne.

The veteran pair shared a KFC Big Bash record 3rd wicket stand of 124 to help the home side cruise past the Sixers total of 161-6 with 14 deliveries to spare, to keep their hopes of reaching the semi finals alive.

Hodge lead the way, smashing five boundaries and three sixes to end the innings 72 not out while McDonald smashed seven sixes in a displace of power hitting to score 60 runs from just 37 balls.

The pair overcame the early loss of opener Aaron Finch (25) and Glenn Maxwell (3) to hand the Sixers their second defeat of the tournament.

Having batted first the visitors recorded a below par total of 161-6 thanks in part to Moises Henriques who smashed a quick fire 41 after they had slipped to just 69-3 in the 10th over.

Nic Maddinson (29) and Steven Smith (25) offered support but with a bowling attack which looked out of sorts the Sixers were unable to stop Hodge and McDonald display of powering hitting.
