A half century from Gautam Gambhir helped India break their five game losing streak on their tour of Australia after they cruised to a eight wicket victory over the Aussies to draw their two game t20 International series.

Faced with a victory target of 132, India sealed victory in front of 62,000 fans at the MCG with two deliveries to spare to bounce back after their 31 run defeat at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Wednesday.

Gambhir (56) led the way, smashing four boundaries after a energized performance in the field helped them restrict the hosts to a total of just 131 at the MCG in Melbourne.

Virat Kohli (31), Virender Sehwag (23) and MS Dhoni (21) all offered Gambhir support to help India bounce back from a poor performances on Wednesday and during their 4-0 white wash in the Test series.

Ravindra Jadeja led the way with two outstanding run outs in the covers to remove Aaron Finch (36) and George Bailey (3) before he caught David Hussey (24) off his own bowling to leave India with a run chase of 132 to break their winless streak.

Praveen Kumar (2-21) and Vinay Kumar (1-25) offered support with wickets at key moments in the innings as Australia’s shuffled batting line up failed to get going.

Finch, Matthew Wade (32) and Hussey all got off to good starts but none of the top order was able to push on to record a big total to leave the Aussies facing defeat for the first time this summer.

Having lost the first t20 International, India will be aiming to hit straight back having bowled the Aussies out for just 131 in an innings which included four run outs.
