The Pune Warriors celebrated their first ever match at the Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium in Pune with a comprehensive 22 run victory over the Kings XI Punjab.
Having played all of their home games at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai during their debut season, the Warriors made the perfect start at their new home to make it two wins out of two at the start of this year’s tournament.

The Kings XI’s run chase got off to the worst possible start with the early losses of Paul Valthaty (1) and Adam Gilchrist (6) who were both run out inside the opening four overs.
Mandeep Singh (24) and Abhishek Nayar (24) offered some resistant’s but with wickets falling at regular intervals the visitors run chase soon petered out to leave the Warriors celebrating victory.
The win was set up by Marlon Samuels (46) and Robin Uthappa (40); thanks to a 3rd wicket partnership of 81which put the home side in control after the early losses of Jessie Ryder (8) and Sourav Ganguly (20).
