Faf du Plessis rich vain of form continued as he helped the Chennai Super Kings record a seven wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The South African scored his third half century of the tournament to help the defending champions chase down the Royals victory target of 147.
du Plessis (73) scored six boundaries and two sixes to end the innings as the second highest scorer in this years tournament just behind the Royals Ajinkya Rahane who could only manage 15 runs.
The Super Kings, faced with a tricky run chase lost Subramaniam Badrinath (15) early on but du Plessis and Suresh Raina (26) shared a 2nd wicket stand of 61 before Kevon Cooper struck twice in the 17th over to remove the pair to leave the home side 117-3.
With the pressure mounting MS Dhoni (15) and Dwayne Bravo (16) held their nerve to score the winning runs from the final ball of the match to seal an impressive victory.
Having batted first the Royals posted a below par total of 146-4 thanks in part to Owais Shah who 52 runs including four boundaries three sixes before he was dismissed by Nuwan Kulasekara (1-17) from the final ball of the innings.
