Virender Sehwag rewrote the history books to help the Delhi DareDevils seal an impressive six wicket victory against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
The DareDevils skipper became the first person to score five t20 half centuries in a row in the history of the shortest format of the game as the visitors cruised to victory with over five overs to spare.
Sehwag (73) smashed fourteen boundaries and one six during his 37 ball innings which took the game away from the Royals who posted a below par total of 141-6 after they won the toss and elected to bat.
Kevin Pietersen signed off his time in the IPL with a cameo of 36 during a second wicket stand of 96 with Sehwag after Mahela Jayawardene (0) was trapped LBW by Ankeet Chaven in the opening over.
Ross Taylor (6) went cheaply as well and even though Sehwag’s innings was ended by Brad Hogg in the 15th over the DareDevils cruised to their eighth victory over the tournament.
In proved to be a disappointing day for the Royals despite any opening stand of 71 between Rahul Dravid (57) and Ajunkya Rahane (42); the pair get the home sides innings off to a perfect start but once Rahane was dismissed in the 9th over the DareDevils took control of the match.
Shane Watson (8), Owaais Shah (1) and Brad Hodge (1) quickly followed and even though Dravid remained at the crease until the penultimate over the DareDevils were left with a below par total of 142 to chase.
