The Kolkata Knight Riders moved to the top of the IPL group standings thanks to a six wicket victory over the Delhi DareDevils in the top of the table clash at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi.
The visitors cruised past the DareDevils total of 153-9 with eight balls to spare to record their 8th victory of the tournament to strengthen their chances of securing a place in the play offs.
Brendon McCullum (56) led the run chase with a well deserved half century which included seven boundaries before he was dismissed by Umesh Yadav (2-30) in the 16th over.
Gautam Gambhir (36) and Jacques Kallis (30) offered McCullum support as the Knight Riders leapfrogged above the DareDevils who lost their second straight match.
It proved to be a disappointing night for the home side after they were restricted to a total of just 153-9 after they won the toss and elected to bat first.
The DareDevils top order all got off to good start with Mahela Jayawardene (30) leading the way but with nobody pushing on to record a big score the home side were kept in check by the Knight Riders
Irfan Pathan broke the shackles with a quick fire 36 but with wickets falling at regular intervals at the other end the DareDevils were left frustrated on a night when they were second best.
