The Delhi DareDevils secured top spot in the IPL group standings thanks to a six wicket victory over the Kings XI Punjab at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala.
David Warner lead the way with a quick fire 79 from just 44 deliveries to help the visitors seal first place in the group standings and guarantee a place in the 1st qualifier for the Final of Tuesday.
Venugopal Rao (21) and Unmukt Chand (18) offered support to help The DareDevils record their eleventh of the tournament to end the group stages with 22 points.
The defeat ended the Kings XI’s faint hopes of reaching the playoffs; the home side needed to win their final group match and hope the Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their last match to sneak in.
As it was the Kings XI slipped to defeat after they were only able to record a total of 141-8 after they were put into bat by stand in DareDevils skipper Mahela Jayawardene.
Siddharth Chitnis (38) and Azhar Mahmood (36) lead the way but having lost four wickets early on the home side were unable to push on a record a big total.
