Moeen Ali and Phillip Hughes helped the Worcestershire Royals seal a comprehensive 47 run victory over the Gloucestershire Gladiators in a high scoring match at the County Ground in Worcester.
Moeen lead the way with a quick fire 82 from just 44 deliveries while Hughes scored 78 runs from 48 balls to help the Royals post a mammoth total of 213-2.
Hamish Marshall (43) and Kane Williamson led the Gladiators reply but with such an imposing run chase the visitors were restricted to a total of just 166 after they were bowled out in the penultimate over.
On a packed day of Friends Life t20 action the Leicestershire Foxes lost their third straight match after defending champions failed to chase down Yorkshire Carnegies total of 170-4 after they were bowled out for just 148.
Elsewhere in the Northern group The Nottinghamshire Outlaws saw off the Durham Dynamos by seven wickets while the Somerset Sabres beat the Northamptonshire Steelbacks by five wickets in a Midlands group clash in Taunton.
If the Southern Group there were win for the Sussex Sharks who beat the Middlesex Panthers by 11 runs and the Kent Spitfires who saw off the Surrey Lions by eight wickets.
