Zimbabwe and Bangladesh show gap is closing

This years t20 World Cup in Sri Lanka looks like its going to be the closet tournament so far if the recent performances of Zimbabwe and Bangladesh are anything to go by.

The two Test playing nationals were in impressive form during their recent triangular t20 tournament which included a youthful looking South African side.

The fact that Zimbabwe saw off the South African's in the final shows the gap is closing between the traditional power houses and minnows of Test Match cricket in the shortest format of the game.

A t20 World Cup victory by Zimbabwe or Bangladesh seems unlikely but if one of the teams can qualify for the Super Eights then that is good not only for t20 cricket but also for the growth of cricket around the world.
