The Chennai Super Kings lost their second straight match on another night to forget for the IPL after MS Dhoni’s side slumped to a six wicket defeat against the bizhub Highveld Lions at Newlands in Cape Town.

Gulam Brodi (64), Jean Symes (39) and Neil McKenzie (32) helped the Lions chase down the Super Kings total of 159-4 with three balls to spare to move into joint first place alongside the Sydney Sixers.

Dhoni (34) and Subramaniam Badrinath (27) gave the Super Kings some hope with the bat but the IPL now face a massive task to qualify for the Semi Finals after losing their second straight match.

In the days earlier match the Sixers cruised to a comprehensive eight wicket victory over Yorkshire Carnegie with 96-9 from their 20 overs.
