Hurricanes and Strikers seal easy victories

The Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers both got their KFC Big Bash campaigns off to a flying start thanks to comprehensive victories over the Brisbane Heat and Perth Scorchers.

Travis Brit lead the way for the Hurricanes blasting 57 runs during a 3rd wicket stand of 95 with Owais Shah (36) to help his side chase down the Heats total of 172-6 with six balls to spare at the Gabba.

Daniel Christian (49) and Joe Burns (44) put the home side in control but the Heat’s bowlers we unable to stop Brit who smashed five boundaries and two sixes to set up the victory.

In the days other game Philip Hughes was the hero for the Strikers after he smashed 74 runs from just 48 deliveries to help the visitors chase down the Scorchers total of 162-6 at the WACA.
