Australia have been drawn alongside England and Zimbabwe in
Group B of this year's inaugural Twenty20 World Cup which takes
place in South Africa at the end of September.
Cricket South Africa have confirmed the groups for the tournament,
which will be held over two weeks in the Republic where Twenty20
cricket is hugely popular.
A breakdown of the fixtures is expected to be released by the
end of the month, Roweda Kandan, the Cricket South Africa official
tasked with overseeing the Twenty20 World Cup, confirmed to
PA Sport.
"The groups have been confirmed and the final fixtures are at
the ICC for approval at the moment," Kandan said.
"There have been a number of proposed revisions, so we will
wait on them to review these and make a decision on them. Obviously
with the World Cup on the go in the West Indies, we are only
likely to have finality by the end of the month."
The top two teams in each group go through to the Super Eight
and matches will be played at Newlands in Cape Town, Kingsmead
in Durban and the Wanderers in Johannesburg.
Warm-up matches are slated for Saturday, September 8th and Sunday,
September 9th, but due to the congestion of the cricketing calendar
England and India don't complete their one-day series until
Saturday, September 8th at Lord's.
The opening match will be played on Tuesday, September 11th
and the final on Monday, September 24th 2007.
