Kent pray for sun in Twenty20 clash
The weather looks almost certain to once again be the biggest factor in Kent’s efforts to chalk up a win in their third Twenty20 Cup clash this evening.
The Spitfires take on the Sussex Sharks at Canterbury in a match due to get underway at 5.30pm.
Club chiefs will hoping for no repeat of the fiasco on Saturday which reduced the quick-fire game to a farcical five-overs-a-side clash against visitors Essex, despite the match ending in warm sunshine.
The Spitfires probable line-up for tonight is set to be unchanged. It is expected to be: Key, Denly, van Jaarsveld, Stevens, Walker, Jones, Arafat, McLaren, Tredwell, Morkel and Cook.
A win could well see the Spitfires regain the top slot in the South League.
There will be no return to Canterbury for wicketkeeper Matt Prior though – he and team-mate Michael Yardy will both be missing from the Sussex side as they are in the England squad for this week’s Twenty20 international match against the West Indies at The Oval.
Kent say tickets for tonight’s match will be available on the gate. Gates open at 3.30pm.
