Twenty20 games switched to Kidderminster

Worcestershire will play their next two Twenty20 Cup home games at Kidderminster's Chester Road ground as a result of severe flooding at New Road..

Following discussions with the ECB and Kidderminster Victoria Cricket Club, the County have been given the green light to switch venues for the scheduled for Friday (June 29) against Northamptonshire Steelbacks (5.30pm) and Sunday (July 1) against Gloucestershire Gladiators (3pm).

Further information about ground admission and car parking for members and existing ticket holders will be published later today.

Chief executive Mark Newton said: "We are extremely grateful to officials at Kidderminster for helping us out at such short notice and to the ECB for helping us reach this decision so quickly.

"The ground logistics will not be easy and we ask all concerned to bear with us but our main priority is to get the matches played and give ourselves a chance to progress in the competition.

"The flood waters are still rising and have entered the buildings overnight which affects our communication systems but we are determined to keep as many people informed of progress as we can."

The venue for the final pool game against Glamorgan Dragons on July 5 is expected to be confirmed in the next day or so.
