International carrot for Twenty20 victor

Victoria has double the incentive to win its third consecutive national Twenty20 title.

The Bushrangers not only want to make it three straight, but desperately want the chance to play at international level in the inaugural four-nation Twenty20 Champions Trophy in India in October.

The top two sides from Australia, India, England and South Africa will qualify.

Given Victoria has won the only two finals contested in this country, it is intent on remaining the best Twenty20 team in the land.

The Bushrangers will be without captain Cameron White for the first two games of the round-robin series, but have regained star batsman and stand-in skipper Brad Hodge from a back injury.

The Vics are yet to be beaten in this form of the game, with Hodge, David Hussey and Shane Harwood, who is back after recovering from a groin strain, proven performers.

"Every competition we play in we try to win. Any silverware is good silverware and at the moment, in January, its KFC Twenty20 Big Bash time and we want to win this competition," Hussey said.

And Hussey said the Bushrangers' sights were firmly fixed on getting to India, as a bonus to defending their title.
