Rain in Brisbane delays Twenty20 match

Heavy rain delayed the start of the Twenty20 match between Queensland and South Australia at the Gabba.

Play was scheduled to start at 6.30pm (AEST), but the pitch remains well covered due to showers that have been peppering Brisbane for the better part of three days.

Queensland Cricket officials remain optimistic of a start, with 8.25pm the latest time the game can get underway, a scenario that would see both sides bowl five overs.

Both teams will be desperate for play to get underway after suffering heavy losses in their opening matches of the Twenty20 Big Bash competition.

Speedster Shaun Tait has been released from his twelfth man duties in the Sydney Test and provided play can get underway, should take the field for the Redbacks.
