Hussey hits half-century for Bushrangers

Another belligerent half-century from David Hussey helped Victoria set Tasmania a challenging 179 for victory in the KFC Twenty20 Big Bash match at the MCG.

Led by a high voltage 54 off 33 deliveries from Hussey, Victoria amassed 7-178 from its 20 overs.

Hussey, who made a slashing 70 against New South Wales two days earlier, spearheaded Victoria's charge during the middle overs before the Tigers applied the screws on in the final overs.

Hussey took a liking to Mark Divin, smashing two towering sixes over long-off in one over as Victoria slammed 91 on the board in a 10-over period after the eighth over.

However, late wickets to Brett Geeves (3-36), who was taken to the sword by openers Brad Hodge and Aiden Blizzard, ensured Victoria did not get within the vicinity of 200.

The Bushrangers openers found the going far easier than they did on Sunday.

Batting on a faster wicket, Blizzard and Hodge had the confidence to hit through the line with vigour.

Blizzard was not there when the Vics reached 50 but his whirlwind 25 off 13 balls was a big reason why they reached that milestone by the end of the fifth over.

Both Hodge and skipper Cameron White, who have played the game at international level, made useful contributions with 27 and 30 respectively but it was Hussey who again delivered the fireworks for Victoria.

But his departure halted Victoria's charge, the home side managing just 17 runs from its final two overs.
