Warriors to host Big Bash Final

The Western Warriors have qualified to host Sunday’s KFC Twenty20 Big Bash Final following their six-wicket victory over New South Wales in Sydney this evening.

The win over the Blues put the Warriors at the top of the Big Bash points table ahead of the second-placed Victorian Bushrangers.

Both teams finished on eight points, but the Warriors earned the right to play the final at home by virtue of a superior net run rate and their five-wicket win over Victoria last Friday evening at the WACA Ground.

As one of the finalists in this summer’s Twenty20 Big Bash, the Warriors have also qualified to play in the proposed Champions Twenty20 tournament in October 2008 against finalists from domestic Twenty20 competitions in England, India and South Africa for a $US2 million first prize purse.

Wicketkeeper-batsman Luke Ronchi was named as the Man of the Match after blasting 52 from just 26 balls, including eight fours and two sixes.

Sunday’s match will commence at 5:00pm Perth time. Gates open at 3:00pm. Patrons are advised to buy their tickets BEFORE they get to the WACA Ground. Contact Ticketmaster on 136 100 or ticketmaster.com.au.

Ticketmaster will be activating ‘Ticketfast’, which means patrons can buy their tickets online and print their bar coded ticket out on their printer at home or in the office and avoid the queue at the venue to collect their tickets. Tickets will go on sale at Midday Perth time on Friday January 11 (tomorrow).
